Ephemera:

Ephemera is a broad term used to describe items of paper that were created for use in a short time span and meant to be thrown away after one or two uses. Items generally put into the ephemera category of collecting would be sheet music, posters, stock certificates, post cards, cigarette cards, magazines, catalogs, and the like.

The "Queen Mary"/A Book of Comparisons

Here's a booklet on the Queen Mary which tries to explain her grandness by comparison to other modes of travel.  I believe Madeline picked this up at the '39 World's Fair along with the other Queen Mary booklet.

Service was emphasized as the main reason for choosing to sail on the Queen Mary.

The comparison with train travel.

Today there is a webcam where you can see the Queen Mary depart.

The Queen's length compared to the height of various tall structures.

What it would look like if the Queen Mary were docked on Fifth Avenue!

Shopping and watching movies were available on board.

You were not cut off from the world outside or back on land!

A selection of the food available on board.

Impressive household equipment!

Lifeboat info - no Titanic issues here.

The height compared to Niagara Falls.

It was fun to learn more about the Queen Mary and how she started.
