Ephemera:

Ephemera is a broad term used to describe items of paper that were created for use in a short time span and meant to be thrown away after one or two uses. Items generally put into the ephemera category of collecting would be sheet music, posters, stock certificates, post cards, cigarette cards, magazines, catalogs, and the like.

1939 World's Fair & National Building Museum

I have posted many times about Madeline's trip to the 1939 World's Fair in New York.  (Use the search feature to catch up on the posts about all the booklets she picked up while she was there.)  As I was reading today's Washington Post Arts Section, I noticed an article about an exhibit at the National Building Museum which features General Motors' "Highways and Horizons" exhibit.  You can read the Post article here.   To see an old film about what General Motors thought the future would hold for cars and highways, here is the original post I did in April 2010.
