Ephemera:

Ephemera is a broad term used to describe items of paper that were created for use in a short time span and meant to be thrown away after one or two uses. Items generally put into the ephemera category of collecting would be sheet music, posters, stock certificates, post cards, cigarette cards, magazines, catalogs, and the like.

Vintage Easter Greeting Cards

Easter is coming and today I am sharing Madeline's Easter cards:


This is a beautiful oversized card that is mailed in a box.  The basket of flowers is painted on satin fabric that is padded for a beautiful effect.

This is the box the card was mailed in on March 23, 1948 at 5 pm.



Here's a cute card shaped like a hat box from Aunt Florence and Uncle George.  (I hope you feel like you know a little about Aunt Florence by now!)  The back of the card is dated "1936".

I really like this pretty little card with violets and musical notes.


This card is actually a little book of Easter poems.  It has beautifully deckled sides and is bound together with a ribbon.

The first two verses of "Easter Lilies".  The opposite page tells us that the book was copyrighted in 1889 by D. Lothrop Company.
